Astéri Calander
The Astéri calendar was established by the astronomers and philosophers of Epylos. It has been adopted by most major Thaurigan cities, with the notable exception of Myrelion which has its own calendar. The satyrs of southern Thauriga notably don’t use any calendar system, except when trading with others, as they have no cultural need to measure the passage of time.
The Astéri calendar begins with the season of genesis and divides the year into 12 months; the lengths of those months is exactly 27 days and follows a full cycle of the moon. Many months are holy to a specific god and named after a major festival that takes place during that month.
Each month begins with the new moon, and is divided into three phases to match the moon’s phases.
- Week 1 – Waxing, from the 1st to the 9th
- Week 2 – Full moon, from the 10th to the 18th
- Week 3 – Waning, from the 19th to the 27th
A full moon occurs during the middle of the second week, and the new moon marks the passing between months.
